A new owner of a shopsmith

Today I just added a Shopsmith Air System to my collection. I noticed that the air filter was not in it and most likely not available for order. Reading the owner’s manual the filter sounds like the filters on the back of an Electric heater (EdenPure). I was wondering if those who have have substitute the air filter and what have you used or it you still have a original air filter to send me a picture of it. I like to come up with a substitute. I’m still going to try Shopsmith to see if it possible to get a new one.

I also got a Shopsmith belt buckle, miss out on the Shopsmith coffee mug.

This air compressor was made for Shopsmith by Campbell Hausfeld. That might be a place to start. I'll check mine when I have time.

The filter for this unit is no longer available. But you can purchase a form filter for a lawnmower or something similar and cut it to fit you compressor.

Well I bought a form filter that slide over the paper cartridge of a shop vac and cut it to size.
Not to sure this will be good enough, I don’t have an old filter to compare. I afraid of the form filter not be the right, because the filter is not fine enough to keep the smaller particles out

Not sure if this will help you but I use an old pair of panty hose over the filter in my shop vac. It prevents the small saw dust particles from clogging the filter in it. I have not had to replace my filter in years. A word of warning though, ask your wife/girlfriend for an old pair as you do not want to get them mad at you for taking their good pair.

(I already have two copies of the book itself, but I'd like to put one in my digital library; I frequently read in restaurants while I'm traveling, and a tablet is a whole lot lighter than the equivalent bookshelf that I'd need...)

Thanks both Ron and JPG - neither of the is quite what I'm looking for. I guess I'll resort to my usual method of bandsawing off the spine of one of my copies, and running it through my fast scanner. (Yes, I know this sounds violent and destructive...)
