Looking for a x-y vise to use on the shopsmith, ideas??

Post by reible »

Or a x-y table that I can attach a vice to.

Like to keep the cost under $100 if possible and still get some quality.

Anyone have one they are using or have been looking and have some ideas for me?

I remember shopsmith once selling one in the distance past but have never seen one come up for sale.... but not that interested in getting one of those since I seem to recall them being pretty light duty.

An X-Y vice of your choice bolted to a piece of Baltic birch with two miter bars on the bottom and clamped in place? That way you can buy the vice you like.

That is the general idea. Not sure how I would use it without a vice but then again maybe that is a better way to go because it could be used that way??

This x-y vise was very reasonably priced and discussed a few months back on the forum:

Vise is pictured in last post on this thread:

This is a little over $100 but not much. Should be good enough for wood.
