I remember a few years back when I started participating in forum discussions it would be hard to get into the groove of how the sites operated.
It would seem that either the newbies were ignored or hazed, (USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION, would be yelled at them.) and I abandoned a few sites because of that type of behavior.
Those were motorcycling forums and I had hundreds of thousands of two-wheeled miles under my belt, so (IMHO) they lost out on a future posting member with life experience to pass on to them. Now, I am a moderator on a motorcycling forum (zzrbikes.com) and do my best to encourage newbies to ask all the questions they can. Knowledge is power, and safety.
Likewise on forums like this one. I am the newbie here and I entrust my safety to another inherently dangerous activity, using power tools. Through this site I have learned how to update my 1950's Mark V to the latest version. it is as safe as I can make it and now I am learning from the other members on the techniques of its multiple uses.
Most of my repairs and upgrades were ordered from Shopsmith and I am also very selfish.
I want shopsmith to thrive as a company so that someday I may add more Shopsmith equipment to my garage/sunroom shop.
BTW,I can't remember if I ever welcomed you to the site, and if I didn't then I apologize.
Welcome and enjoy the knowledge and hospitality of some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
