Original Model 500 circa 1984 Fence questions

Can someone confirm that the fence in the photos are the original fence?
Getting ready to take apart and clean grease reassemble and then realign, but can seem to find specific instructions/videos for this specific model. Any ideas where to look?

Your picture(s) did not come through. This is a common problem because the forum software is not particularly intuitive. There is a thread under Community, near the top, on how to post pictures in this forum. You can then use the Preview function on your entry to make sure that they made it.

There have not been many changes to the original fence since the 50's except for Models 510 and 520. There is an optional 500 fence with a T-Track in the top, if yours does not have that then it is most likely original. It is generally best to stay away from grease and oil lubricants. These tend to attract and hold saw dust and lose lubrication properties fairly quickly. Dry lube is preferred when one is needed, powdered graphite is a good choice. Paste wax, applied and buffed, is preferred on sliding assemblies such as the upper tubes, quill, table tops, etc. About the only thing on a M5/MV that is routinely oiled is the sliding function of the pulley sets that make up the speed control. I don't think you need any lubrication in the fence, clean and dry should do it.
