Mortise hold down

I have a mortise hold down I got many years ago with my 500. I still have the 500 platform but have a power pro head and upgraded the table and clamp. The original hold down went in to a hole in the clamp. The upgraded clamp does not have a hole for hold down but has a t-slot on the top. Any thoughts on how to be able to use hold down would be appreciated. Here are photos of my hold down.

The new fence has a t-slot on top and the newer version of the hold down has a hole with threads so a t-nut can be used. If you don't have one with that hole it can be drill and tapped, not a super easy task but it can be done.

If you happened to have saved your old fence then you could just swap to that when needed.

If you happened to have the router shield that rod is the same diameter and could be used I believe, haven't tried it but it should work. I believe it is threaded.

If you don't want to drill and tap your hold-down rod to fit a T-nut, you should be able to buy one from Shopsmith. I think I did that myself a few years ago, but I wouldn't swear to it.

The new hold-down part number is 514487, and the Shopsmith website is showing a price of $16.43. You'll also need a T-nut, if you don't have one.

SS announced a while back that CS was available on Saturday. I don't know the hours or if it is still true.

when we up graded our table I saved the old table and fence just for these reason . the old table and fence comes in handy for a lot more then I thought it would . thanks for the link BuckeyeDennis .
