Making the best of a dead SS

Post by bainin »

If you have seen my maintenance thread-you know that my PowerPro wont turn on and it seems like its possibly a bad powersupply/driver. Here it is gutted and awaiting the day I can ship stuff back to SS for eval.

I have assorted hand tools, a terrible plastic miter box (shown in background of 1 of the pics) and my router table still running so i wandered down to the shop to mess around and see what might transpire.

Well-it turns out the home lockdown is getting the best of some of the younger members of the family and they started appearing out of boredom, quickly pressed into service :)

Its not the greatest of boxes-but it occupied me, one of the kids, and the wife for an afternoon atleast.

Did you get the PP Power Supply Module out without removing the way tube lock? I've wondered if that were possible. In the DIY PP video they take those out, I've wondered if that was necessary and whether you had to take them out to do maintenance. I understand it to be a pain.

If you are anywhere near me (North TX) I have an old school Headstock I could loan you. Unless you are one of those dang TP hoarders, of course. ;)

I was able to screw on one side of the way tube lock far enough that it became loose from its case mount..this gave me enough room to get the power supply out.

thanks for the offer very kind- I'm in NC .
