Oh yeah! The better half had pulled away the tablecloth. That's a store-bought (but made in an Indiana shop) red-elm kitchen table.

I've used that same species of elm but I've never got a finish that nice. Those guys know their stuff!

After a few years I've just scored another gorgeous holm-oak "woodie" plane. I'd guess well less than 1% of the wood planes showing up on eBay are of this pretty and *very dense* wood:
