Parts identification help

Post by wrmnfzy »

Being bored I started cleaning out a cabinet in my workshop. I’ve had my SS since the 80s as was pretty gung ho buying stuff early on, even if using it in the immediate future was not in the plans. Needless to say, now I don’t know what some of them are. I took a photo and numbered the parts. If anyone can enlighten me, please do.

Thanks, the band saw parts were from when I upgraded parts of the saw. Still don’t remember the drive hub protector.

The drive hub protector is a safety requirement for selling overseas. Not sure when it was added to new machines and all SPTs but I remember they were offering them for sale.

16 would be a dust port, maybe the flange part of the bandsaw upgrade . https://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/cat ... tchute.htm

Here is a new photo to assist y’all in trying to help me. Also asking info on the part identified as miter gauge stop rod. I upgraded to a Indra miter gauge V120 can the stop rod still be used and how? On the auxiliary spindle Guard none of the screws I have fit the mounting holes any idea which ones?
Parts 3, 4, and 16 I’m curious about. Part 8 is some kind of lubricant stick, I believe?

The 2 screws that hold the spindle guard to the belt cover are 1/4"-20 x 1/2" and have an hex head that uses the 5/32" Allen Wrench. They also use a washer with them. Check the screws item 11 to see if they are the ones. If you are going to attach this spindle guard to an older Belt Cover you will need to drill holes and install blind nuts to attach it. New Belt Covers have threaded holes already in the cover. I believe this change occurred in 2002 when the serial number sticker was moved to the bottom of the warning label on the belt cover.

Item 14 may be a rub collar if it has a 1/2" bore.

What are the diameters for item 16? Could it be a reducer for dust collection?

Items 3 & 4 no clue, sorry.

The knob in item 6 looks like the one to attach the upper saw blade guard to the table post bracket from the same guard system the other 2 parts are for.
