Parts identification help

Saw this incredibly useful device in the April Overstocks. Only even marginally interesting because it agrees with Russ's date for inclusion, January 2002, and contradicts mine:

A quill twister! Solves a problem you never even imagined you could have! My '04 still has no holes for the thingy though. And after I thought about it the 510 in my shop for rehab is an '03 and is equally deficient in this area (I know, it didn't have the screw or threads for the eccentric either, but still...) These holes are obvious, right? Not hidden under the vent plate?

I assume they are in line between the two shafts(I hope they have slots).

Did you figure out what item 16 was? I was just curious.

No, still no answer for 3, 4, and 16
16 looks like some kind of reducer possible for dust collection but no definitive answer, yet

3 - looks like a bracket to hang something on a wall.
4 - looks like a cut off end of something , that looked like it might be handy someday.
16 - I agree, it looks like an adapter for dust collection.

4 I understand your logic on this and I have a lot of those kind of things, unfortunately not this one.

The thing that gets me is I usually remember what unusual parts are for and 3 and 4 are that

I feel the same way but it seems that with time memory fades or at least I think that's what happens to me or maybe I forgot.
I can remember the Shopsmith parts but other stuff isn't as important in my memory.

On my April 15th post I had said.

I prefer to keep my older 1998 Band Saw but will sometime upgrade it to the new cover with the tension adjustment window and hole.

Today is the day. They are on sale so a good time for an upgrade.
