sharpening Carbide saw blades

Hi all,

new to the forum. been using my SS for a couple years now and was wondering if the carbide saw blades can be sharpened. If so, is there a place in the Dayton area that does this type of work?

I don't know the Daytom area so can not make a recommendation there. Maybe you should contact the Shopsmith folks there in Dayton at 18005437586

Nick mentioned Shupert in at least one of the Sawdust Sessions. Let me know how you make out, as I am considering sending some blades to Shupert. I was very dissatisfied with my local sharpening service.

Using Google and the two street addresses, you'll find that Shupert and Son's The Sharpening and Shopsmith are not all that far apart. If you are at Shopsmith, take off across country to the south east and you'll find yourself on the Eagle Golf Course a little bit northwest of Shupert and Sons.

Wish I could go along and help you find both.

Has anyone had any luck sharpening their own blades? Seems to me a file and vice is all you would need. Could also make a "jig" for the correct angle?! I've not done the blades but have had success with drill bits and a dremel. Just wondering..
