Got it. Pirana have tiny teeth so they cut very slowly. (but they don't cut wood but. . .you saw that movie). I think the reason for NOT choosing a 4tpi blade is on target. Does anyone have a recommendation and a reason why? This interchange looks like something on cable news.

I must be missing something here...I understand that the bandsaw's narrow kerf will leave more usable wood...but...if that is not a consideration why not use the ts with a new carbide tooth blade? I think the 70 tooth Diablo on my ss would be up to the task. Multiple shallow passes and slower feed rate and I believe it would work fine. Even if you want to make the cut with the bandsaw, making a shallow pass on either side of the workpiece on the table saw first will help to keep the bandsaw blade from wandering.
