As said the Arbor shown in your pictures is P/N 555608 and is for the Mark V 510, 505, 520 and Mark 7. Arbor P/N 555321 is for the Mark V 500 and all previous Mark 5's with the original table system. The online catalog only shows pictures of the two 510/505/520 /Mark 7 arbors. In the picture below are the 5/8" arbors made over the years for the Shopsmiths. 555118 was replaced by 555608 and puts the blade in the same position. Note the difference in height of 555118 and 555321.

If you ordered the correct Arbor P/N 555321 and Shopsmith sent you 555608 instead they should make it right. They have been working hard to catch up on orders made during the covid shutdowns and errors could have been made.

Your Blade Guard, Upper and Lower is the correct one for the Mark V 500 you have.

I stupidly ordered off of eBay to save a few bucks.

If it were me I'd check the ebay listing and see how it was described. If it was described incorrectly the seller is responsible regardless of their return policy. This is the most recent sold one of this model that I see: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-8-INCH-TABLE ... 7675.l2557 and it incorrectly identifies the arbor as for a 500. Under Item Specifics, "mark V 500." If yours was identified as applicable to a 500 like this, I'd contact the seller for a refund. If the seller won't make it right, ebay will.

Side note - I have noticed a lot of 5/8 saw arbors on ebay are actually priced somewhat higher than the mothership sells them for. Some are brand new but not made by SS priced for $54.95 on ebay while the SS list price is 31.99. I think both prices are subject to shipping and tax. I've wondered about this, but have no clue why they are being manufactured or why anyone is buying them.

As David said check the ad to see if it was listed incorrectly. I regularly see Arbors and for that matter other parts listed incorrectly on eBay. I do inform sellers of the errors sometimes. Many are thankful for the correct information other are not. A lot of these sellers do not really know what Shopsmith's are and are just making a buck. Remember there is no Shopsmith Mark IV. :D Although I see it referenced quite often.

As for prices I always recommend checking with Shopsmith for prices on any current parts. A lot of times they will be cheaper overall. Shipping from Shopsmith is generally cheaper than eBay. Keep in mind eBay makes some of it's money from the shipping charges besides a portion of the sale.

A temporary step off to the side on this topic.

Speaking of incorrect E-Bay descriptions, there currently is a 'relisted' quill assembly that includes the drive sleeve etc. that is referred to as a Mark V 5---. From the pix it is obvious it is a Gilmer drive quill.

I informed the seller of that 'detail' and the reply was "I will change the description".

Did not happen and it is now relisted with the original incorrect description.

JPG,

I saw that one too. Funny placement of the bearings on the Drive Sleeve Assembly.

Ya, still obvious through the fuzzy camera lens.

Now back to the original 'programming'. :D

:)

The seller stepped up an gave me a refund, as well as let me keep the original item.

Who wants a new 510/520 arbor for the cost of shipping?
