Hey all, my dad just handed me down a 10er he has had for about 20 years. He only used it a few times a year and mostly as a table saw or drill press. It still turns right on. I was hoping to find out how old it might be and what it might be missing in order to use it for it's full intended use. I read through the new owner post and bookmarked the page. I have basic woodworking knowledge but my son and I are interested in getting more into it. We started building a wood shop area in my shed and would love to restore this machine and add it to our little shop.

First off welcome to the Shopsmith Forum.

Your Model 10ER S/N 83506 was made about the end of 1952 or early 1953. As for what it should have as it came from the factory, you are missing some parts or are not shown. They include the splitter that goes with the Blade Guard, the Lathe Tool Rest assembly, the Lathe Drive and Lathe Center. They also included two long Allen Wrenches, 1/8" & 3/16". Since it is broken you will need a replacement Table Insert. The Drill Chuck on your 10ER looks like the Jacobs Multi-craft Chuck (which will work just fine) and not the Jacobs 3326 that would have come with it.

If you need a Manual you can check under the Maintenance and Repair section for Shopsmith Large Format Drawings, Illustrations and More by Everett Davis. This will be one of the first three topics. In it you will find a wealth of information on the Shopsmith tools. Some are directly linked there and others are on “My Google Drive” with documents too large to be directly linked. Everett has become the Shopsmith historian by saving and restoring manuals and other documents. You will find the 10E & 10ER Magna folder on the My Google Drive which has a restored 10ER Manual and a wealth of other information.

Thank you Russ! Everything pictured is what I got so I’ll have to track down the missing parts you mentioned. I’ve been perusing eBay for parts so I’ll start ordering now that I know what I need to look for. I already printed out a bunch of information and the manual off of google drive. Thanks so much for the info!

Welcome to the forum.

Parts come up on eBay all the time so don't get too anxious to buy the first one you see. Prices vary wildly as does shipping. Watch for a few months and get a feel for the costs.
