Unfortunately, we don't have any idea just how many of us there are. Just a couple days ago, I read something (can't remember what) that stated still another number.

I'd say if you are interested in buying one ask... if you are doing this for ANY other reason it is only going to give shopsmith users a bad name.
Think about it.
I'm telling you that Hartville Tool is a good company and you people are upset that they don't have a shopsmith version???? Give me a break we will have to write to thousands of companies that don't have shopsmith versions of there products... I mean is this what this group has become??? I sure hope not. For those pro USA people you will find a lot of there products are built right here.

Keeping with the idea that honey works better then sour grapes and you are really interested in buying one of these let him know. If not then don't waste anyones time with this.
Sorry if this sounds strong but sometime I wonder about how well we come off to other people since we have such a stong passion about our shopsmith. This has been mentioned before... so I personally am going to be very selective about what and when and when I post "PRO" shopsmith messages.

Your right I remember the Ryobi Bt3000 and Bt3100 guys made themselves pariah on most forums by acting like the world was out to get them.
Your right about Hartville a good company by all reports. They may very well not know how many Shopsmither's there are. Remember very few tools ask you what you using it on. So unless they get more than one request they may see the number as small. Shopsmith hasn't helped this either by making their machine just different enough that most tools won't work on it. Therefore most tool manufactures never hear about Shopsmith.
I agree if you really want one of these tools make your request known.
Before you boycott these people put yourself in their place how many requests for this tool for use on a shopsmith do you think they got?

SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

Ed, thanks for posting that calming photo. It sure works great. I like how as you watch it it starts to rotate around itself. The colors just go very slowly at first, then speed up ever so slightly. Really a great calming tool. Is this something you ordered from Hartville? May have to get one of these to hang on my shop wall.
For what ever it is worth, "Sometimes we are our own worst enemys". Not sure if I have ever bought anything from Hartville, but I have seen their catalog and it looks like they have quality merchandise. Doubt if they make it themselves, so they are probably just an outlet for manufactures.

I keep finding little windows on this forum, that I don't really know what they do. So sometimes I experiment. Probably shouldn't do that, I know in my shop it can get me into trouble.
