Pro Planer speed control

Post by Wick1 »

Here’s an odd one: as you turn the dial of the speed control clockwise on my Pro Planer, it clicks on as you would expect. The feeder then runs at its fastest speed and only slows down to its slowest speed when the dial has been turned fully clockwise to 10. I can live with it unless there’s a very simple remedy.

Are you saying that in the fully CCW position the feed motor is off and the rollers don't turn? My Pro Planer speed control has no off position. Fully CCW (it does not click off) it runs slow and fully CW it runs fast. Sounds like someone replaced the rheostat with one with an off position and also wired it backwards.

Yup, there’s an off position. Full marks for initiative to whoever found one that not only worked (albeit back to front) but also fitted inside the box, presumably avoiding the high cost of a new control box.

Actually it is not wired wrong, it is the wrong rheostat. Fully CCW starts high instead of slow. However, it works so don't mess with it.

I agree - it’s not a major issue, just a bit of a surprise the first time of use!
