Never buy COPIES of Manuals

Post by chapmanruss »

Below is a prime example of why I have said many times Do Not Buy COPIES of Shopsmith Manuals at the online auctions. There is an ebay ad for a Restored Model 10ER Manual being sold by tractorparts1879578 who is selling it on a CD. So you are paying $6.97 including the shipping to get a PDF copy of the manual. The worst part of this sale is who restored it and can be noted in the picture. It is the restoration Everett Davis has done and made available to to us as a PDF for free on a link right here on the Shopsmith Forum in the Maintenance and Repair section under the topic Shopsmith Large Format Drawings, Illustrations and More by Everett Davis on his google drive which is one of the first threads.

tractorparts1879578 should be ashamed of himself for profiting on the work of someone else. He also has another 24 Shopsmith Documents for sale on CD including the Shopsmith Model 10 Preliminary Owners Manual and may also be the one Everett restored from John's original copy.

Shameful is right. Everett is the copyright holder of that content and as such can make a take-down request. It’s a little bit of a process, which I know because I went through it a few years back over the posting of some of my own website’s photos. Scott
