How much airflow for jointer dust collection
Finishing up my jointer rehab project and seriously considering adding a long overdue dust collection capability to my little shop. Re-ran Nick's Sawdust session on dust collecting (SS109) and I wonder if anyone has an idea of how much pressure drop I can expect through the jointer?

This pressure drop discussion always confuses me. When any of the SPT are connected to the DC3300 does that not create what amounts to an open port.
The DC3300 is designed to provide three connections. It seems to me that if you use any one or any combination of those three ports with the hoses and connectors provided for the DC3300 that it should work as advertised.
Now if you throw in different size hoses, multiple gates, etc you may alter the flow rate.
I use the dust collector connected to either one or two devices (Mark V and Jointer) almost exclusively. Maybe this is why I don't understand. My experience is limited even though I have had a DC3300 for over fifteen years.
If I have done a lot of MDF work, I open all three ports and just let the DC3300 do whatever it does. I have no way to quantify its effectiveness but it seems to help clear the air of those very small dust particles.
For heavens sake don't take what I just said as an indication that the DC3300 doesn't get used with MDF. When cutting MDF, it is in my opinion absolutely necessary to use the DC3300 (or reasonable substitute). That dust is terrible as you all know. I use a face mask as well when cutting MDF.
