I'm impressed with how good your old DC3300 fan/impeller looks!
Even though that elbow, which stuck up into the filter bag area, was not interfering with things, I always disliked how dust would sometime accumulate and get impacted between the elbow and the filter bag. Of course if I changed collector bags more often that probably wouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for being an early adopter on the DC6000. Have you made any sawdust yet and are you seeing any real world dust collection improvement with the upgrade, particularly in table saw mode? If there is, I may be a buyer at some point. It would be interesting if someone could try it was a Dust Deputy or other cyclone and see how well that combination works. I tried a Dust Deputy with a DC3300 but felt like it was compromising the CFM too much (subjective rather than objective observation).

I haven't made enough saw dust yet to make a qualified statement about improvement. I can say that the rate of air flow is noticeably greater and from that I conclude that the CFM is at least as good as advertised. I have my doubts that the Fan Housing was designed for this specific application. I think that it has simply been adapted. I don't know that that makes a big difference though.

There is also a large diameter rubber gasket for the cover over the impeller/fan. That cover goes on with (12-ish) machine screws. These two gaskets are why I've questioned the absence of a sealing gasket for the motor housing interface. But SS Engineering confirmed there is no seal in that location. Loosely quoting: It is supposed to seal by mating the two flat surfaces, which should have been flatter than mine.

Yes, that is what I meant. Round gasket, slightly larger in diameter than the motor with holes for the shaft and four mounting bolts.

I don't see an issue even if dust does migrate between those two surfaces because the dust remains captured but a leak there may effect efficiency.
I have mine back together and working. It certainly works better than the DC-3300 but only by subjective analysis. I broke the fan that I was using for air speed tests and have not gotten a replacement.
I'm just waiting now to hear about the thermal issue.
