This thread isn't as much political as it is economic. When your income dwindles until you can't pay your bills, that is economics, not politics. If you like having less money, good for you, but some folks can't handle losing what they need to pay the bills.

Keep in mind the vast majority of folks here are retired and this IS a subject very relevant to their lives.

I do not see any political bashing so far in this thread. Mostly lamenting the inadequacy of the "COLA".

It is somewhat of a celebration for a long overdue increase(better than recent past).

COLA and/or inflation are not political unless you set out to make them so.

Here is a touch or reality that effects ALL of us regardless of out view points:

Nothing political here just pure reality. Wonder what the numbers will look like with a minimum wage of $15/hr.

When I was dating my wife (my girl friend) I could put gas in the car, go to the drive in theater and then to the Big Boy afterwards on Friday night if I had $3 in my pocket. That won't pay for a Big Mac today.

I tried to clearly state that this was an appropriate topic, and that most kept it from going political, but there was a statement that likely confused many of you, as it did me. Until I read about the exact same statement in my local newspaper that a pilot for Southwest Airlines declared. No matter what any of our political views may be, that was inappropriate here, and did not add to the valid discussion about COLA.

As you all likely know better than I do, COLA is something that has pretty much never kept up with inflation, no matter what administration is in office. Commiserating about it or suggesting ways it should or could be handled differently are all, IMHO, fine discussion topics in the Community section; my comment was about the political commentary.

A couple of weeks ago I stopped by my local cabinet shop and bought a sheet of top grade 3/4" plywood. It was $200 (actually I lied, It was only $191 before taxes). The last time I bought a similar sheet of plywood some years ago, it was around $125. Even though I knew it would cost more now, it still put a lump in my throat for a second.
That's economic or financial for me, not political.

For those not up to speed "Lets go Brandon" posted by DarrenDD is a political knock on Joe Biden.

This is what elicited responses to curtail that direction.

Guess I am not 'privy' to the political implication of that post. Means nothing to me!

It's a meme right now. At a race at Talladega TV people were interviewing Brandon Brown who had just won. The commentator observed that the crowd was cheering him with "Let's go Brandon!" But they were really chanting "F**k Joe Biden". So now people say "Let's go Brandon" when they mean "F*** Joe Biden"
