Thanks Tim,

I had several 4'x4' sheets "saved" for making jigs so it could well have been 2004 since I got some last, heck maybe even before that. I had to get some versions a couple of years ago to make my table saw storage unit but that suff was only finished on one side but was still 1/4" thick (well a little undersized) but when I went to look the last time all I could find was 1/8 and 3/16... 3/16 will not work for patterns with my guide bushings...

Guess we will have to check out this latest lead.

That might explain why I still have some 1/4" thick stuff left from the last time I bought it, and now it is hard to find any that is 1/4" thick.:(

It does knot appear that any product is on their web site, except vinyl siding. Masonite did knot suggest that I visit the web site; they suggested that I call them at 419 535 5921. But I did notice that abtco gives a toll free number on their site: 1-800-265-9829. :D (I sent them an e-mail by filling out an on-line form after clicking on the contact link.)

It is an AMT table saw. I bought one from popular mechanics in 1973 or 74 cost around $34 if I remember right. I added a motor I found from some appliance. I did build the cabinet mentioned and made lots of sawdust. You could buy a larger fence to go with the cabinet. I did. Fence drove me crazy. You had to reset it each time you used it.

Your bother should enjoy the saw.

Got a reply from abtco today:
[quote]
Dear Mr (removed),
Thank you for your interest in Abtco. Please contact www.lpcorp.com for your questions regarding hardboard. Abtco now represents only vinyl siding.
Thanks again.

I went to the link provided and still found nothing about hardboard. The search continues...

NOR was it 'on the truck' jan 23. The other partner (owner) told me that no delivery was made that day. He did indicate to me that the apparent delay WAS unusual. Still unknown if it is like the old 'tempered' masonite, but his description of it was promising.

Stay tuned!

judaspre1982 wrote:Along with hardboard disappearing from site as we used to know it , I have found that High Pressure Laminate to be all but impossible to get. It used to come in sheets in a wide variety of colors and patterns. I built all the counter tops in our house with the stuff. No one carries it anymore and web searches have only found that it can be mostly acquired from China in bulk orders. I wanted to use it to surface some infeed/ outfeed tables. Melamine is the only substitute. I liked the old HPL as it seemed more durable than the Melamine surface and you could use plywood as your underlayment rather than partical board. I took a neighbors old kitchen counter tops and used them as my work bench surfaces in my shop. They work great, glue scrapes right off after it dries, you can pencil notes on its surface and then erase, spill liquids on it without severe consequences, just an all around ideal product. If anyone out there knows where you can still get HPL please let me know.--------Dave
Hi Dave,

Where I live, Lowe's and The Home Depot both will order either Wilsonart or Formica brands of High Pressure Laminates. There are other sources of it as well. I have had zero trouble getting it.
