I think when I first discovered my problem I turned the shop smith off when it was at high speed. Is there a correct way to dial it back down while the machine is off. That was dumb of me.

I got it. Turned everything by hand. What an idiot. After adjusting the belt tension, everything works great! Interesting that the belt really didn’t feel that loose.

Mark V completely upgraded to Mark 7

Model 10ER S/N R64000 first one I restored on bench w/ metal ends & retractable casters.
Has Speed Changer, 4E Jointer, Jig Saw with lamp, a complete set of original accessories & much more.
Model 10E's S/N's 1076 & 1077 oldest ones I have restored. Mark 2 S/N 85959 restored.

Regardless of the surmised cause, it should not do what was first described. i.e. The cause ain't yet been fixed!

Hmm, My issue and fix (tighten belt) is one of the troubleshooting issues listed in the manual. Any thoughts on possible additional problems? I cleaned and oiled my headstock. I missed the "tension adjustment" part.
