Greenie headstock reassembly - single remaining set screw

I reassembled my '54 greenie A-headstock after a (practically) complete disassembly and had the great fortune to have a single set screw left. I place hardware and small parts in an egg carton in the order I remove them to keep track of things. This set screw was in the space where I had put the nut for the on/off switch, so should have been taken off around that time. It's not the set screw for the control handle.

The allen socket is on the opposite end of the protrusion and the thread OD is ~3/16". Any suggestions/ideas? thanks.

Did you have hubs on the spindles on the left side?

I did. I checked the hub I pulled off and it had the set screw in it. I don't recall if there were two, but on parts like that I almost invariably leave the screws in place.

The 'half dog' set screw in the top of the headstock?

3/16 od is a bit of a mystery. What size is the hex socket?

There's a set screw for the quill depth control, part 45 in the diagram.
Scott Markwood covered that set screw in his latest My Growth RIngs video which is a follow up to his overall video about Shopsmith set screws.

I cannot think of a set screw that size in the headstock.

Was it possibly simply laying inside.

3/32 set screw. Could that be the one for the speed control handle? The one that secures the handle to the speed control shaft? If so it should be a standard set screw not a dog point or a pointed one. That is the only place that I can recall using a 3/32 Allen wrench during an overhaul.

The set screw holding the control handle on is in place, so that's not it.

I'm afraid I'll have to leave it as a mystery. it makes me a little sick being careless with hardware like this. I did power it up last night to no ill effect though. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

The list I have for the set screw for the Speed Control Handle is a #10-24 x 1/4” Oval Point Socket Set Screw using a 3/32” Allen Wrench. Your extra set screw is a half dog point and I cannot find where one like that would go on a Mark 5 Headstock. The list I used is for later Mark V headstocks and we do know changes have occurred over the years. Almost every set screw used on a Mark 5 headstock is a 5/16" (5/32" Allen Wrench) size except for the Speed Control Handle. Other parts using different sizes on the Mark 5/V include the Table Trunnion stops, the tapered set screw for the Miter bar lock, the stops for the Miter and the adjustment set screw in the Headrest. That may not be all of them for other assemblies.
