I was cleaning and aligning my 500 today and noticed these two little screws on the insides of the table legs. What were/are these used for? Thanks!

I think this is what you're looking for--#4 and #5. I can't seem to find mine,or I would have posted a pic.HopefulSSer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 8:43 pm I was cleaning and aligning my 500 today and noticed these two little screws on the insides of the table legs. Ah I think you're correct. The screws I'm seeing look like item #6. I don't have 4 & 5

Re: Found a “what’s this?”
Years ago, when I bought a 500 carriage from EBay, it had the front shield and both screws, but not the back shield. I used thin cardboard to work up a shape that fit, then traced the shape onto a scrap of 1/8 inch ply and epoxied in a washer for the screw to bear against and came up with this:

What is the intended function of these shields?

When I fabricated the replacement piece I was hoping it would help with dust collection, but can't say that it made much difference there, so I think they must be safety features.

After having looked at my table and seen the photo, I was about to ask the same! I guess it's just to stop you poking your finger in there
