Anyone recognize this part?

Post by edma194 »

Digging through a Box O' Parts I saw a box I hadn't noticed before. It was a Lathe Tools Specialty Rests kit, don't know how that slipped by me before. It's missing the right angle tool rest, seems like that would have been nice to have, but also contained the part shown below. This part along with the two tool rests it did have were in similar plastic bags. Anyone know what it is?

I'm not surprised no one has identified it. It can't be anything substantial by itself, just some part of something else. I thought maybe something for packaging to hold parts in place or secure to a device to a wooden frame. It's a substantial piece of steel rod that made me think it was something more valuable than a disposable piece of packaging, but this came out of a Box 'O Parts along with 1982 Shopsmith so maybe all the way back then the cost was insignificant.

You win a cookie! Looks like it.

I have a Dewalt planer, wonder if it's good for that.
