Loose Mark 7 Carriage Assembly

I have the Mark 7 and am just getting into using it on a semi regular basis. The other day when I was using the drill press I was using a forstner bit and was having to apply some noticeable pressure to make my cuts. After about the third cut I noticed my depth had shallowed. After a considerable amount of investigation as to why, I discovered my Carriage is sliding down the way tubes. The lever that locks my Carriage isn't tight enough. Is there a way to easily adjust the tension on that lock? At first inspection and review of the Exploded Parts View it looks like you can't. But the parts view isn't very detailed. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated guys.

On the back side of the carriage is a nut at the end of the lock shaft. Give it a 1/8 turn to tighten. Repeat if needed.

So that nut will turn and if turned will tighten things up? Seems easy enough.

You may also want to consider installing the adjustable telescoping legs on each side of the table when set up in drill press mode. Even if the table doesn't slide when drilling, it will deflect under pressure without the legs.
