Hello,
I need advice on whether anything can be done with my fence.
I have changed out my SS 500 table, fence, etc. for a 510 table, fence, etc.
The miter slot and fence were not parallel to the saw blade.
I realigned the table so the miter slot is parallel to the saw blade.
However, the fence is still not aligned to the saw blade.
With the fence to the right of the saw blade, the fence angles away from the saw blade as you move toward the back of the table.
My fence only has a single set screw for adjustment and it is ON THE RIGHT SIDE of the handle.
The set screw is completely screwed out.
With only the one set screw, I can only adjust the fence so it angles MORE to the right, the reverse of what I need.
Here are the options I thought about:
A) Find someone to drill and tap a second set screw on the left side of the fence handle.
Issue: There's not much material on the handle to tap.
B) Carefully grid/sand the mating face of the fence handle to make the fence align properly.
C) Detach the fence from the handle, remove a tiny bit of material from the mating surface on left side of the handle.
Issue: The screws attaching the fence to the handle might just hold it at the same offset angle.
D) Add a wood fence permanently attached to the aluminum with the wood shaved precisely to offset the fence angle.
Issue: I don't think I have the capability to so that.
Any other ideas and/or recommendations?
Thanks.

That set screw on the right side of the handle is NOT for adjusting the fence. Loosen it completely or better yet, take it out. Use the two (2) large screws on the under side of the fence for adjustment. Here's the procedure that I follow…
1. Verify that the concave rest block rests completely on the rear, upper way tube.
A. Adjust (if needed) by loosening the two (2) screws on the concave rest block.
2. Once satisfied with the alignment, re-tighten the screws.
3. Check the out-feed clamp
4. Lock the 5/32” hex wrench (indicator rod) into the miter gauge, which should be placed in the left-most miter gauge slot.
5. Slide the rip fence to the left so that it just touches the indicator rod.
6. Slide the miter gauge forward and backward to verify that the indicator rod is making consistent pressure along the length of the rip fence.
A. Adjust (if needed) by loosening the two (2) screws on the bottom side of the rip fence near the front handle.
B. Angle (i.e., rotate) the fence slightly, left or right as needed, until alignment is satisfactory.
C. While carefully holding the fence in position, tighten the front-most screw from below the table.
D. Once tightened, gently remove the fence and re-tighten the second screw.
I. Verify adjustment.
II. Repeat as necessary.

BigKahuna,
Thanks for the reply and especially the thorough explanation.
You made the process very clear, even for a noob like me.
