Another q re DC6000 upgrade.
Seems like this seal is too short if it supposed to fit fairly tight between the ribs of the grille on the Main housing.
Also I note that the bevel on one end is cut to match the angle of main housing to rib.
Whereas, the bevel on the other end is cut away from the rib angle.
Bottom line, is this a defective part that needs to be replaced?
And...is this seal supposed to be mounted flush with the rim of the main housing, or with the tops of the two ribs?
thanks all,
hal

Re: DC6000 upgrade short seal problem?
I can't respond with any hope of being correct!!
I have a very early release version and it seems many undocumented changes have been incorporated by Shopsmith.
I created my own seals.
However, my upgraded DC3000 works as well as I need. Not a great improvement but I never use multiple hoses which I believe was the ONLY reason for the change.

Thanks Dusty,
How did you create those seals?

Re: DC6000 upgrade short seal problem?
I bought a roll of self adhesive foam tape and went at plugging what I thought were leaks. No real plan. Just did it over until I was satisfied. Definitely not a factory job.

Thanks Dusty,
That seems easy enough. Something I should be able to accomplish.

Re: DC6000 upgrade short seal problem?
I would chalk it up to the supplied seal is incorrectly "cut".
I would proceed with a substitution as Dusty suggested(if you are impatient and want to move ahead), then, inform SS CS of the problem.
I would be curious how CS responds.

Thanks Dusty and JPG,
Cust Serv said to send them pix and they'd produce a RMA. I sent it but can't imagine how long it'll take to get a replacement piece. JPG, I am impatient and will move forward as Dusty suggests. I'll keep you informed on any response from SS.
cheers,

Re: DC6000 upgrade short seal problem?
Update from SS Customer Service the day after I sent the info to SS.
"The seal will be replaced at no-charge. No need to get it back. Send me the order number and I will inspect and make sure it is cut correctly"
I'm anxious to see how fast I get it. But happy with the quick response from engineering.
