Bad lighting. The top part of the second photo is the best shot. I didn't realize the lighting was so bad until after I posted them.

I was able to get the porthole cover polished and re-painted.

Re: Yet another "Goldie" Restoration
JPG,
Did you mean the following thread, Micky D's "Restoration Progress On My 1955 Greenie" at the link below?
viewtopic.php?t=3078
The links in the above thread, like other older threads, have the shopsmith.com changed to shopsmith.net for some unknown reason which will not work. Change net to com to get to the listed Shopsmith threads.
Allen,
I think you will find information in Micky D's thread linked above interesting and useful.

Re: Yet another "Goldie" Restoration
OK, I need to go back and try again. I have a box of sandpaper that goes up to 8000 grit, so I will see what I can come up with.

Re: Yet another "Goldie" Restoration
So i was able to get out to the shop today and get a couple of other things done.
I got the other castor assembly put back together.
Then I decided to sand the base tube that I painted back down and hit it with Rustoleum Hammered Silver. I rotated the tube while I sprayed it, so I didn't get much of a hammered effect, which is ok, it actually looks really close to what was on it originally.
Finally, I made the first pass on media blasting the end panels. I need to run over it again and then I will use some hi-build primer on them to remove some of the pitting.
Hopefully, this weekend I can get some Hammered Gold on the end panels and start to put the base back together.

Yes that is where the pix came from.
The .com/.net was not an issue when I went looking.
