Glad to hear this.

Hope this gets resolved.

There are 11 bad reviews this year for him.

Hopefully This will help him realize that he needs to pay closer attention to details.

The buyer as well needs to pay close attention to details of the offer.

As the buyer did looking at the item as pictured vs what what received. Which were totally different items, hence the problem.

The product shipped was clearly deficient. But I notice that the entire timeframe of the complaint and followup is only two or three days. The vendor is most likely a solopreneur. What if he is sick? Or in the hospital? Or, God forbid, he decided to take a hoiday weekend off to spend with his family?

It’s not reasonable to expect Amazon service from a small eBay seller. But then, let me tell you about the Amazon item I ordered, shipped back as defective, and then as a replacement, Amazon shipped me back EXACTLY the same defective unit that I had just returned!

Dennis,

I noticed this as well, but when I reread it I sided with the OP. Here's the thing, the photos of what is being sold don't match what was delivered. The seller acknowledged it was possible that they sent the wrong thing. It was after this that the seller went silent for 2-3 days and only suddenly came back online when a claim was filed with eBay for resolution. I notice that the seller called out in this thread has sold over 18,000 items on eBay. Let's be clear this isn't some small seller on eBay, even if it is all being done out of someone's home/garage. I am all for giving someone the benefit of the doubt, but in this case the seller acknowledged up front that they likely made a mistake and only after this went silent. IF you are shipping that many eBay items I can't imagine taking a 2-3 days break unless you get hit by a car or something. His response didn't say this (or any other emergency) when he finally came back to life and responded after an eBay claim was filed. I have only ever sold a handful of items on eBay, but I learned well that the system is gamed towards the buyer - end of story (customer is ALWAYS right). There was one expensive kid's toy that we tried to sell via eBay and the buyer didn't know how to use it, didn't read the instructions, broke it and demanded a refund for their ineptitude. Due to eBay's terms of service we had no choice but to take the item back and give a full refund. It sucked, but that is life on eBay. Oh, by the way, did I mention that eBay sucks? I used to enjoy using it a looong time ago. ;)

Just more reasons why I don't want to sell stuff on eBay and every time I order something I feel like I'm due for a problem to arise.

OK so the guy has sold 8,000 + items to date. Seems kinda busy to me. That said trying to figure out how he had screwed up, taking 2-3 days to do so while being busy is I think reasonable. Yes responding after an E-Bay complaint is somewhat suspicious, but I see that as more of recognition that he needs to respond more quickly(as well as giving up on figuring out what happened). As for the OP, I understand his frustration but think he was impatient.

One thing obvious from the OP pix is that the tubes containing the merchandise(sent vs listed) were essentially identical.

JPG,

I see over 18,000 items he has sold (see below). Is this not the same guy? I am sorry, but someone who is that active on eBay is doing multiple deals EVERY single day, so to go more than 2 days without responding after admitting fault is unacceptable. In other words he continued to do new business without fixing this customer complaint first. I know someone is going to say something about one generation versus another, being patient, or something along those lines, but we are in 2024. Communication is much faster today and we no longer have the pony express...we have something much, much faster today. ;)

OK I misread yer 18,000 post as 8,000. Guilty of not verifying!

We all be guilty of ASSUMING much regarding the seller's actual activity during that excruciating long delay.

I think we all should stop with the whipping post act.

Over 96% positive is not bad(slanted I am sure by things similar to your 'expensive toy' experience make that lower than fair).

Disgruntled buyers are more likely to post any feedback.
