JPG,
I get your point and I did try to see both sides. I was only trying to point out that anyone that has sold over 18,000 items on eBay is a professional. Question everyone has to ask is did the OP receive a professional & timely response or not??? Comparisons on this thread tended to assume that this was some mom & pop type seller on eBay, one who perhaps only sells a few items occasionally, who isn't online very much/often. I could be entirely wrong, but with that volume of online sales, I have to assume the seller ghosted the OP. IF I am wrong, then I apologize.

Close but no cigar….
Received this Saturday, It’s NOS, but unfortunately it is not 1/4 as advertised, messaged twice, so far ghosted and no response. Tomorrow I continue the process with eBay. It’s really too bad…

Ise cornfuzed.
First pix(e-bay source?) clearly shows a 3/8" chisel pix.
Now you show a pix that closely resembles the first pix and you are complaining that it should have been like the wrong one originally sent(1/4" from looking at the pix).
It all don't add up.

Re: eBay Buyer’s beware ogre68
Original eBay ad and pictures were for 1/4” NOS. I was shipped (originally a 1/4” used & abused 1/4” bit & chisel). Upon working with the seller, he acknowledged sending the wrong one, and then sent me the NOS 3/8 bit and chisel. So I’m still without the NOS 1/4” bit & chisel that was advertised.
I appreciate the seller attempting to make good on what was advertised, but again it is unfortunately the wrong one. Again..
My whole objective was to inform our community of a possible problem dealing with this individual, and my experience.

Looks like 3/8 to me.
So did he describe it as a 1/4?
He is not the lone ranger.

Re: eBay Buyer’s beware ogre68,
So to summarize my experience.
Seller listed a NOS 1/4” mortising bit.
I purchased this item expecting a NOS 1/4” mortising bit.
I received a used & abused mortising bit (not as seller described or pictured)
Emails to seller (several) about discrepancy went unanswered, so a refund request was filed with eBay
Seller then contacted me (after refund request was filed) with eBay) acknowledging he sent the wrong item and informed me that he would send out the correct one (1/4”) and I agreed to withdraw the claim when I received the correct item.
Corrected package received from seller was a NOS 3/8” mortising bit, not the 1/4 that was listed.
Two emails to seller (since Saturday) informing him of the issue have gone unanswered.
I’ve waited a few days giving him some time to respond, which has not happened, no response.
Tomorrow I will contact eBay and request a refund.
So again, my objective is all of this was give a heads up, and buyer beware….

Re: eBay Buyer’s beware ogre68
When you get a refund watch that it includes S&T. I've had a couple of ebay returns where I had to contact them yet again in order to get the correct refund. (Don't go through the seller for this, they are likely the ones that did not provide for a full refund.)
I predict that ebay will want to give the seller still more time to correct the problem. '...Then if they haven't contacted you by such and such date ebay can step in to help...' Which usually means them starting a return for you. I've never had the experience where ebay actually helped. I generally want what I bought, and ebay generally prefers returns/refunds. (They'll offer a replacement, I always ask for one and I've never received one.)
I still shop on ebay, albeit a lot less than I used to. And I'm pretty quick to resort to CC dispute because it is actually easier because with ebay you have to deal with both the seller and ebay. It is my opinion that when there is an issue ebay, not the customer, should own that issue through resolution. Which is exactly what happens with a CC dispute.
