GetterDone,

I'm not sure what you mean by,
I have not decided if this will just be a parts machine or?
Because this 10 E #3868 was slim on the accessory side of things.
It looks pretty complete and even an optional Jointer/Shaper Fence.

Below is a restored comparable Model 10E to serial number 3868 that you show. The end of the Base has been cut off by a previous owner for some unknown reason. This one was upgraded to the Metal Extension Table and related parts.

I did notice yours has the Metal Extension Table and related parts. Does that serial number have an "E" prefix (E-3868) or just numbers? It appears to have parts from later Model 10's and some non-Shopsmith items. One downside I see is the Table Riser Arm, on the Table Post, is broken. These come up for sale often at online auctions. It is also an item that was not included with early Model 10E's.
Russ

Mark V completely upgraded to Mark 7
Mark V 520
All SPT's & 2 Power Stations
Model 10ER S/N R64000 first one I restored on bench w/ metal ends & retractable casters.
Has Speed Changer, 4E Jointer, Jig Saw with lamp, a complete set of original accessories & much more.
Model 10E's S/N's 1076 & 1077 oldest ones I have restored. Mark 2 S/N 85959 restored. Others to be restored.

I looked at the post I made last and Thought
I didn't give enough Information in my post and the Direction I am thinking of proceeding.

So, I will try to Clear the waters here. :)

The first 10E with the serial #E 3868 I purchased just as pictured below.
There are several things that would be nice to have that were not included in this purchase.
This one does have the E in front of the serial #.

So, I started looking on E bay and to buy some of the stuff was going to cost :D More than what I paid for the machine.

So, I started looking for another one.

The one in the pictures below was 3 hours away from me.
But 20 minutes from a Friend of mine.
He went and got it yesterday and put it in his storage shed.
I don't even know the Serial # yet.

So now that I have 2 of these and a Speed Changer

I am thinking of 3 directions to go with this.

Option 1: Fix 1 machine with speed changer fully equipped and sell off the other parts.

Option 2: Fix both machines and sell 1 with minimal attachments.

Option 3: Fix both machines and just leave them in different configurations.

Getterdone,

You have answered about my following comment,
I did notice yours has the Metal Extension Table and related parts. Does that serial number have an "E" prefix (E-3868) or just numbers? It appears to have parts from later Model 10's and some non-Shopsmith items.
That Model 10 may be more comparable to a later one than I posted.

By the way didn't we warn you collecting Shopsmith Tools can be habit forming? :D

The other day my wife asked me how many Shopsmith's do I have. I told her 12 but she said she counted more than that. Between the 6 restored/working and 6 waiting to be restored there are 12 which I pointed out to her. Of course I wasn't counting the Crafter's Station. Power Stations and all the SPT's. :D

Other than not having an extra set of Bench and Way Tubes I believe I have enough parts for an additional Mark V that could be a 510.
