I have enjoyed finding out the history of the Shopsmith's I have purchased shared by, in many cases, a family member of the original owner. The Model 10E S/N 1077 shown in my last post was originally the Uncle's of the person I purchased it from. Likely purchased from the Montgomery Ward Store in Portland OR. The first 250 Model 10E's made went to the West Coast Montgomery Ward Stores. Portland was one of those large retail stores and a catalog warehouse.

I hope you enjoy reading the topic Shopsmith Model 10's What When and Where in the community section. It is at the link below.

Sorry I didn't mention that thread to you before.

In case it hasn't been mentioned there are two other topics you may find interesting. One is Shopsmith Mark 5 What when and Where at the 1st link below and the other is SPT's What When and Where at the 2nd link below.

I'm told that speed/dial wheel is pretty rare. I have one, too, but it got wet and warped. I put it under glass with weights for over a week. It was flat again, but it soon warped back to how I found it. Due to its scarcity, I quit foolin' with it.

I wished I could find a set of those wheel assemblies that rock UP and DOWN with your foot. I have them on my 10ER, but want to build a new bench for my friend's 10E and add those like Russ did. It's always cool to see another 'found' 10E/10E!

For me, provenance is everything these days. If something is old without an interesting story, I usually pass. Wasn't always that way, but is now. I just got tired of multiple owners and the 'truth' of how the item should be presented.

I know this lady that has a Print shop.
I am thinking of ?? Asking her to print these discs.

I know better than to dissect this one because it is in somewhat of a Good shape.

The Crush Rivet in the middle would be Hard Pressed to recreate.

I don't know if that is in her Wheelhouse or if anyone would buy some of these if I asked her to recreate a few of them?

If there is any Interest I may pursue this / Of course with your help since you have one for proof reading and Correctness. :)

I would absolutely be interested in the printing of copies! I hope other members are as well. I can see the tool for the grommet. Similar to the tool you use for peening metal grommets in place for tarps, etc. I have no idea where to find the raw material grommet, but I suspect that people who are book printers would know. I will occasionally see a 'help' book with a wheel like that...usually with a brass grommet.

Thanks John

I didn't know what to call them in my resent search.

I change my search terms to eyelet kit and found some on Amazon.
I just got to measure it when I get home then go to the print shop and see if she can make them. :D

The only hitch you may have is copyright stuff. Some printers won't reproduce things that are obviously copyrighted or implied to be. I've run into this a lot. Probably best not even to mention it unless she brings it up. Even though Shopsmith is a company far removed and sold a number of times since that wheel was printed....there could still be trademark/copyright issues. One could ask the present Shopsmith people, but that might only serve to 'alert' them and kill the deal.

If she says 'yes', then I think the wheel has to be taken apart so all the sides of the two parts can be printed, no?

That's a Good point.
I think she will print it,
I will have to think on that one.

Yeah to make sure it is 100% It would have to be taken apart.

If I design one with just the info and Numbers that Should be Okay????
