Microsoft GRRRRRRRRRRR

Post by JPG »

Grumble time again. :(

Opened the lap top lid this morning and was greeted with the prompt for secret response like needed when powering it up. OHH a clue those folks from Redmond paid it a visit last night.

Well I went about what I was about to do and for some reason my desktop icons have been shuffled. It is bad enough that a recent change forced the locations to only be placed in grid pattern locations but why should they be moved during an "update".

I place those icons where they are logical for ME.

I am a weirdo who RARELY clicks on the 'open' thingie or the windows key and only do so to open something new or seldom opened.
My modus operandi is to have an icon for everything(file, program, drive, whatever) and simply click on that to initiate the action.

I find that far more efficient, but that efficiency dissipates if I have to search for the icon that some irrational object/being relocated!

Now about that NEW icon labeled desktop.ini Wonder where that came from  .

One solution is to get a Mac and then deal with a bunch of other random weird crap during updates instead of the random weird crap you've become accustomed to.
Thanks much,

The desktop.ini icon shows up when the check box for hidden files is checked in the File Explorer, View Tab. I don't know why it would have been changed during an update, but that's where you can go to get rid of the new Icon.
