Donation to a local woodworking group or maker space?

Post by DLMap »

I “inherited” my elderly neighbor’s Mark V and several add on pieces as well as all his books, plans, Mark V specific tools etc back in the late ‘90s. I have used it for various small projects through the years and always thought that once I retired, I’d start doing more. Been retired 4 years now and am realizing this is just not a hobby I’m going to get deep into. I hate seeing it sit in my garage unused but I don’t want to go through the issues of dealing with Craig’s list or Amazon Marketplace to sell it. I’d much rather donate everything to a local craftsman group for use in a maker space or something similar. Just have no idea how to even start looking for such.
Does anyone have any connections to anyone in the San Diego area that might get me pointed in the correct direction?
Thanks in advance!

San Diego has a large local club called the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association. They have a website is https://sdfwa.org/ that has contact info. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for the suggestion, unfortunately they do not accept tool donations. I sent them an email anyway hoping they could point me in another direction. Hopefully, someone has another idea?

They have a section on their website for people to list things that they want or are getting rid of. If you ask they may list it on there for you.
