ShopSmith Manual advises use of Air Compressor

I do loan out some of my tools to family, but I make them fill out and sign a signout sheet so I know where the tools are and who has them.

This approach provides confirmation of who removed the tools from the home shop and when and if properly utilized proves whether or not they were returned. That much works well.dicksterp wrote:I do loan out some of my tools to family, but I make them fill out and sign a signout sheet so I know where the tools are and who has them.
While the tools are gone....you work without them. If that works for you...great.
I'll stick to my approach...it is now especially easy because no one asks to borrow anymore. Now, occasionally, there is a down side....when the shop becomes crowded with someone else's project and my schedule is destroyed.
The family is pretty good about coordinating, most of the time. I do have a couple neighbors who, from time to time, show up in the doorway with lumber under their arm. This can be disruptive but then - what are good neighbors for?
Then there was that Saturday morning when a neighbor from up the street backed his truck, loaded with hardwood flooring, into the driveway. My schedule this day was terminated.

My schedule this day was terminated.Whatever good will might have been developed was lost immediately. It turned out that he had sold the house but had agreed to do repairs as part of the deal. Oh well. It was the "right thing" to do anyhow.

Thanks for the link and, like all of the other replies, the assistance.
I knew that I would find willing helpers and advisors when I posted, although, it still amazes my wife how friendly ShopSmith people are. (I keep telling ehr, "They're like Square Dancers and Sailboaters . . . always eager to help and share the joy." ;-)
