I seem to remember Shopsmith offering an oscillating sander attachment for the drill press, which I assume is no longer available.
And today came across a Delta 17-960 attachment, which states it adapts to “most” drill presses. So:
Has anyone tried to use these on a Shopsmith? And do you think it could fit & work?

cooch366,
Since there have been no other responses yet I decided to chime in.
I have no idea if the Delta Oscillating Spindle Sander Attachment you show will work on a Shopsmith. A Mark V or any other Shopsmith model is different than most Drill Presses.
Shopsmith did make an Oscillating Drum Sander Attachment, but as you noted, it appears to have been discontinued. Below is a link to the instructions for it here on the Shopsmith website to help give you an idea of how it worked.

Re: Oscillating sander for drill press
Thanks for the info & instruction sheet Russ.
I did find an instruction manual for the 17-960 and may pick one up (if reasonably priced) and give it a try. I really enjoy experimenting and trying different ideas / and uses for the Shopsmith’s, almost as much as making things.

Re: Oscillating sander for drill press
I have a Shopsmith oscillating sander. It’s powered by one of the drive hubs on top of the headstock in the drill press position. I’d be surprised if the Delta version would work on a Shopsmith.
