Newbie mistake
I checked out my Emerson this evening. I removed the back cover and and pulled the front out of the case. Newbie mistake was I didn't make alignment marks on the back and front parts of case. The four case screws bottom out and are not securing the front part. I ran out of daylight and will have to revisit it tomorrow.
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Good news is the armature, magnets and windings looked like new! Blew what little dust there was out with compressed air.

Re: Newbie mistake
Is there a brown washer between the fixed sheave and it's collar?
