Belt Sander Maint.

I used my belt sander for the first time in a couple months and had a Tracking problem. Couldn't get it to track correctly, fiddled with it for awhile with no solution. I crowned the belt again and that took care of that problem. After using it, I took the belt off, cleaned all the saw dust (can ya get saw dust from a belt sander? LOL), waxed the back plate and table, retensioned the idler drum while I was at it. Other than those, that's about all the maint. there is, isn't it?:confused:
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

For a while, Shopsmith used the same drum for both the idler and the drive. Unfortunately those are prone to tracking problems. Put a square to your idler drum - if it has a crown, than you have one such unit. You can get a replacement idler drum from Shopsmith that has no crown. Alec

Thank You for reminding me of that video. I went and watched it again. Found out I did ALL that's needed for now.
