Possible for sale post allowed?

Hello, I am new to the forum. I found it thru the Shopsmith website. I recently acquired an estate that has a Shopsmith Mark 5 w/ band saw and possibly other attachments. It is of no use to me. I am curious if I am allowed to post it for sale on the forum? I did not see a forum page specific to items for sale. I apologize if it is not allowed.

I would also like some help in evaluating its condition. I have not attempted to check if it operates, as I am not familiar with it and want to check it properly.

Any help and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I will take more detailed photos and post them. The only pics I currently have are of the identification tags/stickers.

Any insight into things to check before I attempt to check operation would be wonderful. I have never used this before and I would prefer to keep all my body parts attached lol

-I will check out the Learn tab and see how many of my questions already have answers there. Wanting to see what maintenance I should do before attempting to check functionality, as it has sat for an unknown amount of time. I do need a power cord that is not currently available from the manufacturer before attempting to power on the unit. If by any chance someone has a power cord, please feel free to contact me. I would like to make sure it functions.

I was able to get a hold of Shopsmith and get some info. The unit is a Model 500 “All Inclusive”. The table/stand, main head unit, bandsaw, Jointer, Rip Fence, Miter gauge, and at least one coupler are present.

Posting pics, now that I finally got it unburied this past weekend. Any input is greatly appreciated. Feel free to reply or message me with any questions.

The Mark 5 is one referred to as a Goldie made in 1962. The Jointer was made in February 1961. The Bandsaw was made in October 1979.

A replacement Power Cord (for All MARKs) SKU 518289 is available from Shopsmith USA. Price is $49.95 and can be found by typing in the SKU number into the search box on the upper right corner of the main page. Although older Mark 5's only had an ungrounded 2 wire Power Cord this replacement will work and simply connect the ground wire to the motor when installing. I have this same Power Cord for the restoration of my March 1961 Goldie and have used it in previous restorations of a Goldie and Greenies. If I remember correctly, I did have to enlarge the hole in the Motor Pan to install it. That may have been from using a non-OEM power cord with a larger strain relief needed.

Thank you so much for all of that info. When I contacted Shopsmith, they gave me a power cord with SKU: 518242 which is out of stock. But that is likely the two wire cord like it came with. Thank you, I will order the cord you gave me. That will allow me to test it sooner than later.

Power Cord SKU 518289 is showing out of stock today also. I doubt the Power Cord SKU: 518242 is a non-grounded one. The change to a grounded power cord occurred prior to the part number change in early 1964. Part number 518289 is a much newer number than 504204 which is the first 6-digit part number for the power cord.

You could go the non-OEM route and buy a power cord and strain relief to install. The current Shopsmith Power Cord would be different than the original 2 wire (non-grounded) power cord your Greenie came with anyway. Do make sure you get a Power Cord with large enough gage wire to handle 15 amps. Many commonly sold cords are rated at 13 amps.
