A "Craftmaster" Shopsmith Clone

Post by Maurice »

Anyone know much about this? I assume it is the same company who did the Total Shop clones. But this one is in Australia. There is no mention of it on any of the forums/groups, so figured I should share it as a fun record.

There are a number of different names of Shopsmith clones that were made and sold as the original Shopsmith Mark V patents expired. Some are Wood Master, Total Shop, PHD, Shop Center, Diltec and others. Mostly made in China or Tiawan. I don't believe the clones were made to the same quality standards as the Shopsmith Mark V. The broken and repaired Lathe Tool Rest Arm may be an example of that lower quality. As I understand it some parts are interchangeable with a Shopsmith Mark V while others are not. I have not owned any of the Shopsmith clones although I believe an extension table I have is from one of them.
