Looking for replacement Keyless Chuck

Post by dgueffroy »

I have an Early Mark 5 with a Jacobs chuck 3326 but I want to replace it with a Key-less chuck, has anyone done this and where did you purchase the parts?

Welcome dgueffroy,
I have done some extensive research into that subject. Knot only does Jacobs KNOT make a keyless chuck that will fit the SS, they no longer manufacture the keyed chucks that will fit them either. To date, I have found no manufacturer that makes a ready to fit keyless chuck for our Mark V's. There is a way to do it, but it involves using an adaptor, and I fear that may cause unwanted run-out. Bill Mayo has reported finding such adaptors on some SS units. You can PM him to find out more about the adaptor and what keyless chuck was used.
