ShopSmith mail order issues

Post by shophaven »

I live in Alaska, so I naturally assume most of my mail order stuff is going to take awhile. Recently I have made a couple of very small orders (Bags for the DCS3300 for example) from ShopSmith and specified Priority Mail via USPS. Email confirmation of the order was 3/7/09, and I still have not received it. The same thing happened on a previous small order. Time from online order to receipt is typically 3 to 4 weeks using Priority Mail.

I note that a similar sized order from Rockler (2 pairs of cabinet hinges) took less than three days and the shipping charge was half that of the ShopSmith order.

Anybody else experience the sloggy nature of ShopSmith mail order service?

I think it depends a lot on the availability of the part. When you ordered, did it say it was available or not?

What Tom said is correct. Shipping of parts is dependent on availability.
Look up the part number on the web page and see what it says.
Unfortunately there is quite a few parts that are not in stock or in back order.

Try calling their customer service by using their 800 number.

It would we a good addition to the web site status of order that they provide a column that gives an updated estimate of when an order will ship. It would probably save a lot of frustrated customers from calling in repeatably and preventing new orders from talking place. Shopsmith has some nice friendly and helpful people but I think they are working to processes that don't work effectively. Innovation with improved processes will help. Don't take my word for it . Look at the sucessful companies.

Good luck with your order.

Hi shophaven! We mail out a couple of boxes per Month using Priority Mail of the USPO. It is possible to get delivery confirmation on these boxes. Although, we have not shipped outside of the lower 48, the longest time a package took to get from coast to coast was 5 days.

Something is wrong with your DC bags. Call Shopsmith and tel them of your situation!!
