About 6 months ago I questioned the forum about what could cause run-out or wabble on the quill of my (for all practical purposes) new 520. I was attempting to drill some holes in pen blanks and the tip of the bit was wabbling. I was questioned, and yes, it was a brand new 7mm brad point bit, made sure the chuck was tight on the quill and tightened the key in multiple holes.

Well I went to drill some more blanks today and decided to use my Craftsman drill press instead of the Mk5 to drill the blanks. Grabbed my 7mm bit and guess what, it wabbled in the drill press too! Brand new bit from PSI and it was bent... A quick trip to my local Rockler's and I'm good-to-go...

On the bright side, finished assembling my mobile accessory stand today and got my belt sander and jointer mounted on it now (and off the floor), waxed my tubes and made some sawdust. Very nice...

I agree Tim. much better the fault of a $12 bit than the SS. Just had to own up to it...

Got a question, Tom. When you rolled that 7mm bit across a flat surface, did it show a wobble?

Chuck, haven't done that (yet), will try it this week and let you know. I do know a different bit from Rockler didn't wabble, so the SS is good...
