Anyone who would think it necessary to ASK, would NOT understand any answer.mickyd wrote:I don't blame you a bit for wanting to get to the root of it. It's like working on your Greenie's genealogy.
I own a 1955 18' Chris Craft Rocket Runabout boat. I went to the Maritime Museum in Newport News, Virginia who holds all the Chris Craft records. Amazingly, the had the final production documentation folder for my boat, filed by it's serial number. The folder had the actual shop traveler along with in-process and final inspection test records. It showed the production sign offs by the guys who built and tested the boat along with all the lot numbers and serial numbers of materials that went into it. I was able to copy the entire folder and believe me, I cherish it. Why? Only people who appreciate that kind of stuff will ever understand the passion.

Located Greenie SN 310709 (Nov 1955) here in San Diego. I am attaching pics. Asking the guy how much he wants for it with all other SS stuff in photo. Maybe I'll own another Greenie. Will advise.

It appears as though he has mixed up some of the parts with the Mark VII that is shown in the background. The miter gauge, tool rest and tailstock are all Mark VII versions. I would be interested in the jigsaw insert if you want to make a trade for a jointer blade cover. Oh yeah, he was asking $250 the last time I heard.mickyd wrote:Located Greenie SN 310709 (Nov 1955) here in San Diego. I am attaching pics. The guy just contacted me and wants $250 for the Mark 5 with the jointer and other accessories. It runs. Kinda obvious by the chips on it unless they were strategically places.
I think I am getting addicted to ShopSmiths!! You guys should have warned me this would happen. (right farmer??) I am going to blame it on ALL of you. Gotta go and see how much $$ I can scrounge up without dipping into budget money. Yard sale time.

I see what you mean on the mix up of parts. He still wants $250 for it all. I won't buy it for that much. I'll wait patiently for the next "deal" to come along.

Somehow he has managed to get the table on backwards, to boot. Slot is on the wrong side and the fence bar should be to the front of the machine. I will go ahead and offer him $50, so that you can snatch it up for $75.]judaspre1982 wrote:Mike , Many of the items I see in the pics are mis- matched to the ser# on the headstock vent plate. The main saw table is from a 1960s, probably from a Goldie. It has the extra saw slot....
