Thanks for the stud info, both of you. I believe I'll go with the threaded rod. Ace H. sells it in 36" length, which will be just right to do the Aux and two Floaters.

Two floater???????? I think there may be a misunderstanding here. The studs we are talking about is to mount the aux table to extension table base Part# 504237 see picture at http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/part ... xpview.htm

The floaters do not mount to support legs but by definition are floaters that float on the fence rail and connector tubes.

Also since it is only possible to mount two aux ior extension tables on to SS I don't see why you do want to the existing aux and 2 floaters even if you had an extra extension table base.

Right. Sorry about that, I meant to mention why I wanted to do the stud thing on the floaters and the Extension. All three of those are different sizes, measured at the rails. So I figure if I have the studs cut and mounted I can (more) easily switch the extension table base from the current Ext table (used normally on the right end and aligned to the Main) to one of the floaters which I would have pre-aligned (height) to fit on the left side.

I am very glad you asked about this, because it made me realize I may no longer have that problem of one Ext. table aligning to the right but not the left (and vice versa). I recently had a Main table problem fixed, and I hadn't thought to check and see if that would also fix the Ext alignment problem.

You may have saved me a hack saw blade and a buck-2.50 worth of nuts and washers.

You have hit the nail on the head for guys like me. I have learned much patience from my SS and from the guys on this forum. I fight the tendency to rush all the time. But, after realigning the table and ignoring the $1 feeler gage that Nick suggested and having to do it again because the table would not tilt, I am beginning to get there. One thing about the SS, it is pretty precise, but the procedures are fairly simple. But if it says do "A" then "B", there is a reason for it and if you don't do it, you will usually know why they said to it that way.
