Magna Jointer Depth of Cut Adjustment Shaft Repair

The Depth of Cut Adjustment Shaft (DOCA (3)) is/was bent by setting the jointer on the DOCA Knob (15) without the mounting tubes in place. The DOCA Knob will only turn on the shaft part of the way before it binds. I haven't found an on-line parts diagram and used part names and numbers from a 3/85 Shopsmith manual where some of the parts are the same. The 2008 diagram in the catalog has a P/N 502883 for DOCA shaft, but how is it removed reinstalled?

Is there a safer way to fix this than trying to bend the shaft?

I have already extracted the broken off sleeve screw and think a pair of tubes should be kept with the jointer. I haven't tested the jointer, knives look good, maybe even sharp, fence and tables are derusting.

Guard has only a hex shaped stud holding / positioning the fence on the Infeed table, ie no 57 -58. I assume that this was the configuration 46 years ago. So. I'll look at 55077, 555480, and 555559 after the shaft gets 'straightened out'

No Shade Trees or Cinder blocks were harmed during this repair attempt, but we've just started and the weekend is only half gone.

The threaded rod IS threaded on BOTH ends. In 1963 this was PN 2158. Now 502883??? All thread would probably work, but a jam nut should be added. Removal will not be easy since I assume it was securely seated.

Speaking of jam nuts, that would be how I would first try to remove the bent shaft/stud. I would mount a couple of nuts on the end and "jam" them and try to turn the stud out with a wrench. This will not damage the threads leaving a remote possibility that you can straighten the old part. Good luck.

I had time to think about what was holding the shaft in the cast post of the jointer table. When I looked at it this morning, I found a threaded hole on the opposite side of the post. Double nutted the Table mount stud (4), loostened it. Vise gripped the DOCA shaft and turned it out. I couldn't double nut the DOCA Shaft, the nuts only turn part of the way on the threads and not far enough to get two nuts on the shaft. Shaft should be replaced before it ruins the threads in the DOCA Knob. !.

There was a compression mark on the shaft threads from the end of the Table mount stud.
