Anybody check out the shopsmith channel? It looks quite interesting and I hope it makes it.

Something is awry with the site for this Mac user. I use firefox and get a window the is titled "addonChat". Firefox rejects 99% of this type of thing. It asks for a login which even if I had I would not use as I am not a chat person.

I see the splash screen and the buttons for home, help etc.

I think some tweeking is needed yet.

I watched Nick Engler. I hope that it goes, it could give lots of pointers about using Shopsmith and accessories.

Could even be a sales tool.

Other checks

I checked safari and the same problem. In explorer things hung up. In my many years of teaching photography and computer it looks like some html code some where is non standard.

I hope someone setting this site up is reading this.

I tried using both explorer and firefox. In explorer I could not get anything to happen once I clicked on the media player. When using firefox, it hangs up and ends up having to close the program. I would really be interested in seeing what Nick has to say. Also had the chat box show up on both browsers. I am running windows Vista with latest updates and also latest updates of media player and java. I suspect that it's not something we are doing wrong. Hopefully this can get resolved. Also have DSL so speed is not an issue.

I posted this site last night at the other shopsmith site and had at least one person having problems so I also posted this:
http://www.shopsmithacademy.com/Hands%20Online/help.html

If you are having issues this might help you out.

I'm also not sure they wanted too many viewers as this was more of a test of how things would work. Even the icon for finding this is hard to find and not described. Take a look here and see how easy it is:

They may also yank this at anytime or make it more public???

I downloaded the latest updates for Windows Vista and this time using explorer, I was able to view the May 18th show. Very interesting. I think that if SS is not able to fund the TA's for awhile, then this alternative may be very useful, in fact, having attended many TA's already, I always hoped for SS to put out a video or DVD of one, so you can refer back to it and using the online type of media like this will be very useful to say the least. Really looking forward to what SS has in store for us in the near future.

Was there some sort of posting that was done to announce the creation of the "SS Channel"? If so, where was it posted?

:o I am so thankful to have seen this happening. This is just what the doctor ordered.

I was unable to get the audio, although I know it was there. I could barely hear it. I watched the video through three or four times while trying to change settings that I thought might complete the audio channel.

The video was fine. I went to the woodworkingchannel for a comparison and the ss channel was every bit as good (except the audio). Technical qlitch somewhere.

I sure hope this is a preview of what we all have to look forward to.

I was also pleased to see that Nick's Shopsmith is as tall as mine. In fact, it might be a bit taller.:o
