All right Ed.
You want to hear from us younger people :D so here goes. Shortly after I got my ShopSmith,... correction my first ShopSmith I got the bug to build one of the under the ShopSmith storage units. I printed up the plans, bought plywood, knobs and hinges and .... that is still where it sits. Since I bought the ShopSmith with Dad that means it must have been 2000 or 2001 so it is a project that is about 8 years old.
I have recently been thinking of finally working this because in the interim my garage shop turned into a bedroom when our daughter moved back in(and back out now:) ). The Storage shed got wired, insulated and air conditioned and became the shop. Much smaller than the garage and storage is more of a premium.
I changed jobs from where travel was the norm (on the road 3 weeks, home for the weekend) to one where I go home at night and now have the opportunity to do more woodworking. With space at a premium (the shed is 8X16 and 13feet (interior) tall or not quite 2 stories it is pretty close and sheet goods get cut in the yard. Putting some of this stuff under the shopsmith would clear some room and add weight for lathe turning (tho this has never been a problem for my limited lathe turning experience).

I bought all the wood and glued up several wide pieces for a small swinging crib for my oldest daughter. I never did finish it but I have moved it from my previous house to the current. I am now setting my goal to have it completed for my first grandchild. My daughter is now 19 years old so I guess this project is about 20 years old. I will say that when it is complete it will be very well done due to all the time I devoted to the details.

Oh, goodness, what is the oldest unfinished project that I have around.

Well, there is the small sailboat that I started in 1967 (a Moth class 11 footer), got about 80% finished and then moved with me over the years since then. Buffalo, NY to Rochester, NY to St. Joseph, MI to Blue Springs, Missouri.

And then there are the two chest of drawers that I started in Adult Ed in 1978 - those are still downstairs. They need some minor tweaking and then finishing. Maybe I tackle those this fall.

I am getting much better about finishing jobs now that I am retired. Of course, the supply of new work keeps on increasing exponentially.

Well I don't have any that are 10+ years old, but after building the two adirondack chairs mentioned in another thread, I thought I would start building more for sale. That was about six years ago. All the pieces are rough cut for one chair, and hiding somewhere in our sports/camping cuboard where my dear wife stashed them.

It seems she got tired of moving them from place to place as I had somehow got distracted and moved on to different projects.:D

I actually thought of them a couple of weeks ago. Thought I should put it together, put it on the lawn with a for sale sign on it. Key word is thought, I haven't quite gotten aound to action yet.

See!! That's the problem, when I even thought about making my cart, I would see another on on the line that I liked. Someone was making them with "artillery style" wheels, HAND MADE mind you, and they were fabulous! Some are really fancy, with drawers and special devices to hold special gear...

anyway, mine sits, alone, unloved, flat, in the shop . . .
