Does this forum allow For Sale items? Have Shopsmith Jointer taking up space.

No, unfortunately. Those who make these decisions have determined that "the offering for sale" is a commercial activity - which is prohibited by this forum.

I don't see it as being "commercial" but my opinion in this matter does not count.

Prohibiting this sale does not (in my feeble opinion) result in the elimination of competition for business that would otherwise be Shopsmith's and therefore is not a threat to Shopsmith. In fact, I feel quite the contrary. The more equipment that is kept in the active wood shop the better will be their business.

The problem is IMHO not a concern re competition, but more to the problem of "Where to draw the line". This is a legal beagle driven policy. If there IS NO line, you cannot be culpable in letting some do it and some not!

A more subtle approach than "FOR SALE" might produce the desired result without violating "THE RULES"!

Whew!!! That was close... It is a good thing nobody here found out that you have a Shopsmith jointer for sale...

I have a fairly quiet email list called "SS_owners" on Yahoo where we welcome mention of items wanted or for sale. You are welcome to mention it there. Here is a subscribe link to email if you want to:

You can also just search Yahoo groups.
The group is smallish and quiet at around 150 memebrs but then you only need one buyer...

You are absolutely correct. Shopsmith may not be concerned about "the competition" of used sales. Shopsmith (Nick), however, made it very, very clear that Shopsmith would not tolerate forum members using the forum as a place to sell their wares.

There are too many ways to sell your equipment without challenging Shopsmith.

I personally question their logic but I do not propose to challenge their rules or their right to impose these restrictions.

Looks like he just let everyone know he has a jointer for sale.

I guess that is one way to get around it.
