Router salvage ??

I found a virtually new router exactly like to one I was trying to fix. It is in a case, so the heat and UV have not messed with the plastic. More importantly, it had a more complete manual with it that gave more specific instructions on how to remove the stop rings and adjust the depth control ring. It also has better info on keeping the thing clean and lubed so it adjusts more easily. That info I think will allow me to use both machines. I am not always ( rarely) as patient as I should be and if I had slowed down a bit, I could have figured out the problem BEFORE I messed with the stop rings! With proper adjustment, the stop rings are really not needed to keep the depth set. DUH!!:o When I get my shop wiring done, I can use the dust collection with the router table and keep the chips out of the adjustment ring slots. That is what caused the issue in the first place. Thanks for the help.

All good suggestion. Have you considered pawn shops as well. I was looking for a used bench grinder, and started looking a routers. most were pretty well beat up, but if you were just looking for parts, might be the way to go.
